A Beautiful Blue Kitchen by Great Northern Builders

Recently, I had the pleasure of capturing a stunning kitchen remodel by Great Northern Builders, Inc. in Dover, near Portsmouth, NH. This project stands out with its beautiful blue theme, combining elegance and functionality in a way that truly transforms the space.

When I first saw the completed kitchen, I was struck by how clean and crisp all the lines and colors were. An unstaged room can often look sparse and empty, but the vibrant blue tiles matched against the warm woods made the room feel alive. The deep blue cabinetry creates a bold statement while maintaining a timeless appeal. Paired with sleek, modern stainless-steel appliances, including a gas stove and dishwasher, the kitchen is not only visually stunning but also highly functional.

One of the most remarkable features of this kitchen is the striking blue tile backsplash. The glossy, rectangular tiles add texture and depth, reflecting light beautifully and enhancing the overall aesthetic. Above the stove, an inset tile depicting a charming nautical scene adds a unique focal point. This personalized touch ties in perfectly with the kitchen's location by the water in Dover, adding both artistic and meaningful elements to the space.

To capture the kitchen’s natural light and overall ambiance, I used a straightforward lighting setup with two off-camera flashes. I bracketed the room from dark to light and shot plates with the flashes to bring out the shape of the counter and get the right colors. The goal was to effectively highlight the kitchen's natural beauty. However, the confined space posed a challenge. While the overall room is large and airy with big windows overlooking the water, the actual space for placing my camera and shooting was quite tight. For some shots, I put the camera in the pantry, and for others, I tried placing it outside the front door.

My favorite feature is the blue tile, especially the inlaid tile with the boat. The builder shared a lovely story about the tile being a family heirloom, which added a personal and unique touch to the kitchen. This glazed tile stood out beautifully, accented by the cutting board over the sink.

The pristine white countertops provide a clean and bright surface that contrasts nicely with the blue tones. These countertops are not only visually appealing but also practical, offering ample space for meal preparation and other kitchen activities. The wooden flooring complements the overall color scheme, adding warmth and a natural element to the kitchen. The combination of wood and blue creates a cozy yet chic environment, perfect for both everyday use and entertaining guests.

The kitchen is bathed in natural light thanks to the large windows that line the walls. This abundance of light not only highlights the beautiful details of the kitchen but also makes the space feel open and inviting. The views of the water from the windows further enhance the serene and relaxing atmosphere.

I believe my photography showcases the quality of Great Northern Builders, Inc.'s craftsmanship more than my own. Like a good painter, I try to hide my paint strokes and focus on highlighting the builder's excellent workmanship. This kitchen remodel exemplifies how thoughtful design and quality craftsmanship can transform a space. The choice of colors, materials, and personalized details come together to create a kitchen that is not only functional but also a true joy to spend time in.
