Brick and Light: Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Full Summer Bloom

Following up on the January shoot for Barge Design Solutions, when the landscape was stark and snowy, I returned in early summer to capture the exterior architecture of Portsmouth Regional Hospital. The lush green grass and trees in full leaf provided a vibrant backdrop, beautifully enhancing the hospital's thoughtful design.

One of the standout elements of this project is the unique brick pattern featured prominently in the dawn and early morning shots. The exterior wall showcases a distinctive protruding brick pattern, marking the location of the Linac Vault. This design choice not only signifies the vault's presence but also adds texture and depth to the building's facade, particularly striking in the soft morning light.

The hospital's stepped design was another key feature we aimed to highlight. Capturing with midmorning shadows in a wide shot, I was able to accentuate the building's dynamic and layered architecture. The interplay of light and shadow underscores the meticulous planning and execution that went into this structure, revealing its geometric harmony and structural elegance.

Barge Design also took great pride in the awning over the hospital's entrance, especially its accent lighting. To showcase this feature, we waited until sundown to capture its illuminated beauty. The evening shots showcase the awning's sleek lines and the warm, welcoming glow of the lights, creating an inviting entrance that enhances the overall aesthetic of the hospital.

This follow-up shoot provided an opportunity to document the hospital in its full summer glory, with lush greenery and vibrant colors framing the architecture. The contrast with the snowy and stark conditions of the previous interior shoot highlights the versatility and enduring appeal of the hospital's design.

This project exemplifies the synergy between natural surroundings and modern architecture. It's a testament to Barge Design Solutions' vision and Portsmouth Regional Hospital's commitment to creating a healing environment that is both functional and visually appealing.
